Survey Rod Man

Survey Rod Man – Build Your Career with Petticoat-Schmitt

We’re seeking a Survey Rod Man to join our Survey team and support critical layout and measurement operations across our projects. What You’ll Do

Field Support

  • Assist the Survey Crew Chief with daily operations including materials, equipment, and quality control.

  • Execute survey work according to plans and directives from the Crew Chief, Superintendent, or Survey Manager.

  • Coordinate with team members and superintendents for effective resource utilization.

Survey Operations

  • Support computations, plan/elevation interpretation, and construction layout.

  • Assist with roadway, utilities, finish grading, and as-built survey work.

  • Engage with all technical components of survey processes under the direction of the Crew Chief.

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with the Survey Crew Chief.

  • Contribute as a reliable, professional, and positive member of the crew.


What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans.

  • Competent Person training and confined space training preferred.

  • Good verbal communication skills.

  • Strong basic math skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Strong visual and auditory acuity for construction site safety.

  • Ability to climb in and out of equipment and lift up to 40 lbs.

Environmental Adaptability

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and various times of day.

  • Must wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, high-visibility clothing).

  • Reliable transportation to and from jobsite required.

Hours:

  • Standard: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
