Our clients include construction services for public works, water resources, and site development. If you have experience working in the heavy civil construction industry as a Site Prep Project Engineer, or want to grow that experience, this role will be a great fit.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Directly supervises and coordinates the work of the grading crew.
• Experienced on all types of heavy equipment for dirt and site projects.
• Knowledgeable in the areas of dirt work, including excavation, grade work, surveying and final excavating work.
• Safety Manager for the crew
• Knows and understands the production schedule.
• Can plan daily work from the projects 4-week schedule and executes same
• Can perform and train the essential job functions for any position on the grade crew.
• Identify, report and correct hazards, NEAR MISS


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Functions
Technical Knowledge:
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to measure, perform construction math and calculate quantities.
• Can set up and properly use a rotary laser, builder’s level and machine control.
• PSCC and OSHA rules, Safe trenching
• Understands optimum moisture, densities and compaction requirements
• Basic IT skills, can navigate smart phone and I Pad to fill forms and reports
• Read and interpret plans, contours, gate plans
• Understands and can set up and trouble shoot machine control.
• Heavy Equipment Operation


Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or sit for long periods; handle and manipulate controls on a repetitive basis. Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites. Ability to climb in and out of equipment, ability to lift 40 lbs.
Environmental Adaptability:
Work outside in all weather conditions, and various locations and times of day. Hard hat, hearing and eye protection, Hi-visibility clothing required.


Training and Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience on dirt
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Competent Person training
  • Confined space training
  • NPDES/Erosion Control training
  • Math
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated
  • Team player, able to get along with a diverse group of people working towards a common goal
