As a Form Carpenter, you will play a crucial role in the construction process by creating and assembling the molds, forms, and framework, as well as finishing the concrete that shapes the structures we build. Our work includes construction services for public works, water resources, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), and site development. If you have skills and experience as a Form Carpenter for large commercial construction projects and want to take your career to the next level, this role will be a great fit.

Your Responsibilities as a Form Carpenter:

As a Form Carpenter at Petticoat-Schmitt, you’ll need a solid background working with heavy construction concrete framework.

  • Safely operate hand tools: skill saws, reciprocating saws, grinders, drills, and hammers.
  • Handling and moving various construction materials.
  • Grade preparation, leveling, and spreading dirt/stone.
  • Reading blueprints with the ability to make precise measurements.
  • Cutting and assembling boards, timber, plywood, and other manufacturing systems to build forms.
  • Laying out, erecting, and tying reinforcing bars
  • Erecting scaffolds and ladders
  • Installing embedded items such as: pipes and metal imbeds
  • Pouring concrete, consolidate, and finish.

Requirements for the Form Carpenter Position at Petticoat-Schmitt:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of heavy construction concrete formwork experience
  • Able to work with a diverse group of people to achieve a common goal
  • Knowledge of proper and safe use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in the heavy construction industry
  • Effective communication skills to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions
  • Ability to identify, report, and correct hazards on the job site
  • Responsible for reading and understanding blueprints
  • Performs construction-based math skills: addition, subtraction, and fractions
  • Responsible for job site safety, PPE< fall protection, and assured grounding protocol procedures
  • Ability to conduct rigging and hoisting
  • Able to use manual dexterity, physical stamina, lift 90 pounds, and climb ladders or scaffolding

Hours Information:

  • Normal hours are M-F, 7am – 3:30pm
  • Hours can extend depending on production needs.
  • Some Saturdays as necessary. We are off on Sundays.
  • We plan on working 40-45 hours per week. Overtime is likely but not guaranteed.
