Summary?
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for performing day-to-day payroll processing duties to ensure accurate and timely compensation for employees. This role supports the Payroll Manager and works closely with HR and Accounting to maintain payroll data, manage employee records, and provide exceptional service to field and office personnel.?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities?
Process weekly payroll for hourly field employees across multiple states.?
Ensure accurate entry of hours, earnings, deductions, and direct deposits.?
Assist with certified payroll reporting and compliance with Davis-Bacon requirements.?
Maintain employee payroll files, including tax forms, garnishments, and direct deposit authorizations.?
Review and verify timecards, job cost coding, and project allocations.?
Coordinate with supervisors and HR on employee changes, new hires, and terminations.?
Provide employees with timely assistance on payroll-related questions and corrections.?
Assist with payroll tax filings and support year-end processing, including W-2 distribution.?
Generate reports as requested for accounting, audit, and compliance purposes.?
Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive payroll data.?
Support internal audits and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.?
Maintain the Petticoat-Schmitt Code of Conduct.?
Qualifications?
Knowledge of payroll processes and multi-state payroll practices.?
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.?
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.?
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.?
Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.?
Education and/or Experience?
- 2–3 years of experience in payroll processing preferred.?
- Construction industry experience and familiarity with certified payroll is a plus.?
Computer Skills?
- Experience with payroll software (e.g.,?Viewpoint, HCSS or equivalent) preferred.?
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.?
Physical Demands?
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear.?
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.?

- Occasional coordination with field operations teams.?
